Qualifications and Study Experience
Laura studied law at the University of Wolverhampton, completing both her LLB (Hons) degree and Legal Practice Course. Laura also obtained an LLM certificate in International finance and Banking Law.
In 2023 Laura qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive through Cilex.
Work Experience
Laura began her professional career in 2009 as a Senior Account Manager for SLC Solicitors, a leading property management law firm in Shropshire. Laura was responsible for the handling of client matters throughout the legal pipeline and overseeing processes and development. In 2016 Laura transitioned into SLC’s specialist Property Department to gain experience of transactional property matters, including lease extensions, lease variations, licence for alterations, transfers of equity, non-commercial sales and post completion dealings. During her time at SLC Solicitors Laura was able to develop experience in preparing and submitting court applications and Tribunal bundles for contentious property matters.
During her time at SLC Solicitors, Laura produced multiple articles and training materials for publication by the firm. Laura has also provided training surgeries for clients and members of the property sector to highlight good working practices and legal reforms and their application.
In 2023 Laura took up the position of Head of Property at Bailey Property Law. This appointment provided more experience in management and development of legal processes. Overseeing the handling of non-litigated matters, developing new case management systems and the collation of a panel of professionals (solicitors, surveyors and tax advisors) to strengthen the support system for clients throughout their matters.
In 2024 Laura moved to Brady Solicitors, taking up the position of Chartered Legal Executive in their Enfranchisement Department. During her time at Brady Solicitors, Laura dealt with a large and varied caseload of enfranchisement matters. Laura guided and supported clients through the technicalities of Collective Enfranchisement Claims, Right to Manage Claims and the Right of First Refusal- both for landlords who wish to correctly dispose of their interest and leaseholders who wish to acquire it. This has enabled many clients to successfully purchase their freehold or gain control of management of their building. Laura appreciates the complexity and nuances of enfranchisement, and her experience enables her to adapt this process for clients based on their requirements, containing to support clients post completion with management practicalities and follow on lease extensions or variations.
Laura is confident dealing with all property related matters and in particular has experience in dealing with Bona Vacantia and Escheat property, having successfully completed numerous repurchases of land which has reverted to the Crown back for clients.
Laura prides herself in providing clear and concise advice on all property related issues, including issues relating to title, transfers, covenants and leases. Enabling clients to understand their position and options in a practical manner.
